A message from David Matthews, President of Canterbury Corp:
Seventeen years in the heavy civil construction industry around the world and seventeen years in the construction
recruiting business here in the United States have given me a wealth of knowledge and information to help companies in
locating qualified personnel.
My career in the construction industry started in England as an apprentice general foreman for eight years, in
highway, bridge, power and marine construction. During that time I had the opportunity to work on two very large
pipeline, pumpstation projects in Saudi Arabia. After successful completion I was transferred to Egypt for four and a
half years. The projects I worked on in Egypt were water clarification, sewer pipelines and pumpstations, and an oil
refinery tank farm.
From there it was off to a short project in Angola, Africa and then on to the Bahamas to build a large hotel and
casino near Nassau. After successful completion of this project I traveled to the United States working on a highway
bridge project.
Having worked in the Middle East for so long I became accustomed to the warmer climate. After a few harsh New
England winters I switched to a career in the construction management search business where I have been successfully
placing applicants around the United States and international with prestigious general contractors.
Sincerely,
David Matthews
